  • I think the person meant he was in the documentary "Say Amen Somebody," which he was.

  • @citauli This IS the documentary Say Amen Somebody. Think he was talkn about the TV Amen, with Clifton Davis.

  • I remember him from the show Amen

  • No. You are thinking of Jester Hairston who played the older deacon "Rolly Forbes". Jester was composer of Gospel hymns and spirituals also.

  • Thank you Professor Dorsey!

  • It's amazing how music in the church has evolved. But what's sad is that we as Christians are still the same when it comes to that. Just as he was not accepted in a lot of churches then, their are Christian artist that aren't accepted today. Mainly Christian rappers. From Dorsey to Cleveland to the Winans and Commissioned. None were accepted at first. Then of course Kirk Franklin. We as Christians are only holding ourselves back from receiving all God has for us.
