The story takes place during the Liberian Civil War in between the late 1980's and early 1990's. Raiden then was taken under Solidus (who also hones an eypatch), to do some dirty work...
...Thats if you guys acually bothered dreading through the long cut-scenes of MGS2. Wikipedia "Raiden (Metal Gear)".

@update: additional to the 5 (or S) there are 3 new letters: 3, e and E
the letters shine up in the light in the same amount randomly. u dont see one letter 2 times in a row. so this might be a code. if u flip the letter E it becomes an "m", the e mirrored can become a G, the 5 is also an S. if u put them together in a special order u get: (3)MGS 5 - the 3 and M (ealier E) become 3E - E3 (hint for the E3 expo, the last java update day. also look there are 3 "Es" in it: E, e and 3 (mirrored E).

yes it is mgs5 because if you go into microsoft word, change the font type to one thats the same as the 5 or S and you will see that its 5
