  • i just bought the exact one you have second to the left and the quality of it is amazing. i will use it to build guitars the right way

  • I have several of those older drill, and even one "Brace" type that was made in the 1930's to hold ROUND bits. I use that one when I am out in the "back 40" doing fence work. We used to call those smaller drills (that look like an egg beater) a "Hurdy-Gurdy", because that is the sound they make when you use them. I have two of those "Belly drills", and use them a lot. One of the best antique drills I have is an old "Post drill" It will drill through thick steel better than a modern drill press.

  • nice collection iv got a few hand drills one my granddad major used in the 50s nice watch too

  • @oologahan I think they are Cool Pieces of Mechanical history.

  • Nice collection Dan! I have two hand cranked drills also but with closed gearboxes, two gears by shifting the handles between two shafts. I'll make a little presentation of them one day to show. Didn't hear what you called that ratchet, but my father had several of those, he worked as a builder. Sorry to say have none of them.

  • @pinknorski Thank You, appreciate the comment.

  • My Mom does the same thing with her bird feeder but she uses lard. She said watching the squirrels jumping on the pole and sliding down is so funny.

  • Nice dont see those much anymore
