http://www.youthpromiseaction.org - The Youth PROMISE Act (H.R. 1064/S. 435) is a groundbreaking, bipartisan measure before Congress that can help break the cycle of youth violence by making unprecedented investments in powerful and proven, community-based youth violence prevention and intervention practices, such as mentoring, afterschool programs and other innovative diversion strategies. This legislation -- the first act of its kind to focus exclusively on prevention and intervention -- will reduce crime and save local government and taxpayer money by empowering local communities to shape and oversee evidence-based strategies that engage and divert at-risk youth proactively, before they slip through the cracks of the criminal justice system.
