Where did you get it synced, and how much did it cost? Looks and a sounds really good.

Thanks! Yeah, I love this camera. I had the camera sync'd at The Film Group. Check out their website to see the various prices. I also used a professional Marantz recorder and Rode shotgun mic.

Too bad the Film Group went under. They had a real nice, affordable "crystal sync module that could any camera could be modified to use. These days there is no problem with syncing sound in post using "Soundforge". If you need to shorten or lengthen any sound track to fit you can easily do it without any change in pitch at all. Just get the recording on a digital recorder not analog. I use a M-Audio Digital recorder I got from B&H Photo for a hundred bucks. Syncs up fine.

Hi, These Nizo's are incredibly quiet. It's a shame they only made a handful of models to handle the higher ASA film stocks. John, I would have to agree on one thing. If you don't have a real nice shotgun mic recording anything can be a pain. I use a Seinheiser that cost me a couple of hundred bucks. But anything behind that microphone is never heard at all. Extremely directional. Needs to be turned from actor to actor as they preform in order to maintain an even recording level.

The crystal in a camera keeps the film moving at a constant pace. If I recall correctly, you only need a crystal when you're using an analog tape recorder. As MiniDiscs are digital, they, in theory, do not need a crystal device.

I've got a question, though: Do DAT recorders need to have a crystal installed? I'm guessing not, since the format is digital, but I'm just checking since I might be using the format for my next film.

wait isnt crystal sync the camera trigering a device(recording) to record when the camera is operating. was bout to buy a beaulieu 6008s and a minidisc recorder.(so i should make sure)
