Isn't the crown vic. the only car that they have tested an 80mph rear impact on? To me that means this car can take a beating!

Pretty sure the Panther design (Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Town Car) has only killed like 12 or so in post rear crash fires like this one. No design is going to be 100% safe, especially when you deal with such high speeds as many of these vehicles are exposed to when out on interstate traffic stops and you have traffic, including heavy-duty trucks, driving upwards of 80 mph sometimes.

note that, most of the front wheel drive car use their rear axle to protect their fuel tank in the event of rear ended
