Trailer for the first edition of International Film Festival Breda.
25 - 29 march 2009

A silver sphere on an endless checkerboard floor is the default for many 3D modeling applications. It can be seen as an icon for a sterile, makeable world. Reality is often dirty and unpredictable. By recreating this icon in reality the beauty and imperfection of real life gets emphasized.

The recording was the result of 3 people controlling different parts of the installation, Roel controlled the speed of the balls, Benoit (Eurogrip) controlled the speed of the dolly and Sal focussed and zoomed the camera.
It turned out to be a play were the 3 of us playing harmoniously together.

  • Ohh my nipples. They hurt... they hurt... when I TWIST them!

  • lets relax , this is not amazing. we have seen thousands of this kind of images and others, what makes this to be amazing? what are you preparing we for by giving me this video? 70's Lynch like floor and "scary" music to add for the mystery. but in the end of it there is nothing.

see all

  • Wow

  • Very nicely done. I like the surprise which is in the direction of the movements. First you think it's just the spheres rotating, then you see the camera itself moving in circles, but still you can't immediately tell if it's moving left or right, because actually the spheres ARE rotating, and so what a relief it is if it has finally zoomed out and upcoming dizziness fades away.....

    Once more: very nicely done!
