This bunker is often referred to as 'The Hitler Bunker', not so much because he was stationed here in World War One but because when he visited the area he visited it during a tour.
Some research after my visit confirmed that in fact Hitler visited a different bunker and so the likelihood that he was stationed here or even visited is quite small. In other wrods, a World War One buker near Fromelles...and thats it...

  • Odd that its just open like that. Most places like that would be barred up and sealed off I'd have thought.

  • @EGdriver No, very very normal in France. World War I and II bunkers of all sizes are generally like this. In some cases, farmers even use the larger ones for storage or even as cow sheds (see some of my V1 site viddeos.

  • @TheKeithCarnes Here in my town we have an FT-17 on display in a park. It is often covered in garbage and graffiti.

  • @EGdriver Why would you think that? If it were in America it probably would be a tourist attraction.

  • Should have gone inside!

  • There must be much more respect for such buildings & artifacts in Europe. If it were here in America I'm sure it would be covered in graffiti and have homeless living in it.
