New diplomats present credentials

Five new Ambassadors and two High Commissioners have presented their credentials to the President.
The event took place at the Presidential Secretariat this morning. Traditionally, the Diplomats designate were conducted in a Horse carriage to the Secretariat.
Kahtan Taha Khalaf Kali presented his credentials to the President as Iran's new Ambassador. Mpumelelo Joseph Ndumiso Hlophe is the High Commissioner of Swaziland to Sri Lanka. He will be resident in Kuala Lumpur.
The new Ambassador of Bhutan is Dasho Bap Kesang. He will be resident in Dhaka.
Sidek Ali is the new High Commissioner of Brunei to Sri Lanka. He will be resident in New Delhi.
The Republic of Armenia has also appointed a new Ambassador. He is Ara Hakobyan. He will be resident in New Delhi.
The new Ambassador of Republic of Macedonia is Petar Iovanovski. He too will be resident in New Delhi.
Mohamed Hacene Echarif is the Ambassador of the Republic of Algeria. He will also be resident in New Delhi. Prof. G.L. Peiris and President's Secretary Lalith Weeratunga were present at this ceremony.
