This was a near miss between The Ramira, A Swedish registered Gas Tanker and Mersey Ferry The Royal Dafodil on the River Mersey, 23 October 2009, during the visit of aircraft Carrier The Illustrious to Liverpool. This was filmed near to Woodside Ferry, Birkenhead.

@admanphoto According to COLREG Rule 15 the ferry should give way to Ramira, wich should keep course and speed.

Hahaha love it, I know the Chief Officer at Ramira =) and I have had many of my classmates being cadets onboard that ship.

@bergeot206555 If i am not mistaken, there is a separation scheme on the river, and when some ship intends to cross it, its skipper has to ask permission from VTS controller first, and he gets it, he should keep a perpendicular course on the scheme axis. In this situation, the ferry skipper should have put his bow on the Ramira's stern, in order to avoid her. We call it "the dog's curve". If Ramira hadn't had a controlled pitch propeller, then there would have been a collision.

Nice video,,, But as many has pointed out Ramira is not a gastanker, she transports light oilproducts like gasoline, gasoil, kerosene.... and that stuff.

Ramira is not a gas tanker. Product tanker is the correct term.

@admanphoto acording to the colregs the ferry is 2 blame 4 this,the ferry is the give way vessle and the tanker sould keep its corse and speed,and by crossing the traffic lane the ferry sould not inpeed any traffic transiting the lane
