@UHeardMe1stTime Going to college + getting a good job = big joke! GET YOUR OWN BUSINESS. My dad once told me if you want to make a living get a job and if you want to make money get your own business.

None of the people here,including myself, can make any change of the current situation. We don't network because there are no common goals.Try preaching this to the hundreds of ignorant,monosyllabic, jackass basketball,football,baseball,h
ip-hop coons out there..The problem is..the whites know that the ones with the power to make a change,don't have black people in mind.

I believe integration is blk in amerikkka biggist down fall. We would do much much much better psychologically, financial under segregation. The destruction of Tulsa Oklahoma is testiment to this,

@Tsugua21 People can go to college and get a good job and start their business if they are inclined to do so. Getting a good solid education can lead to getting a good job which can in turn lead to building up contacts and a potential client base while working in the corporate structure. These contacts and potential client base can come in real handy when a business is started. Also, while in college a network can be established with other students as well as with some faculty.

People have more networks than they realize. E.g. current and previous co-workers, former schoolmates, neighbours, friends of relatives.... people just don't cash-in on these contacts.

You were right on target about the willingness to sacrifice. There is an Asian family that lives about a mile down the road from me and they've been there, like 15 years. There's gotta be like 12 heads in that small house. Back when they first moved in, it was an old Camry and a 4runner in the driveway, now, there's like 6 or 7 BMWS and Lexus' and a boat. Black folk aren't willing to do that. They'd rather rent indefinitely. Further, Black folk don't hook shit up. Crabs in a barrel I tell ya.

there is a definitive us against them mentality of other peoples and networking, blacks refuse to see reality and are therefore seen as idiots.
and i cannot go against it because it is true

you made good points about "non-transferable jobs" and "strangers in a foreign land"...I really needed to hear this as a 23 yr old grad student soon to be in the work world...thanks

If you ask me, the only reason we do not network, is the lack of motivation and strive for one another. We are the only culture that have been opressed so much, psychologically we do this to ourselves. It seems there are too many Lucifer's and Judas' in our culture. Think about it...
in regards to you discussing the short segment from one of SWPs videos, i strongly feel that the emphasis that he put on that example is 100 percent correct; a significant majority of white/non-black persons gain employment and garner success within their companies through somehow being connected to whomever is in charge, whether it be through a direct family member, group associate, "frat brother", etc.

@philoconsciousbrains
"Significant majority"? No, the majority of whites do not gain employment from "the hook up".
If everybody's in the network, that defeats the purpose of having a network.

You are way off most whites I know get jobs without the hard work it took to get the job because they have the complexion that most jobs that are run by white are looking for. I was about to get a manager position on my job and lost it to a white guy from prison who I trained so heck no and I also know others who have been in similar positions as well so I disagree greatly.

@MegaZeitgeist
Racial discrimination & networking is not the same thing.
