  • Are you using the Tascam as a digital mixer with eq/comp or as a control surface for PT. What benefits are there to mix ou of the Tascam as opposed to using PT plugins?

  • @wizprodux Actually I'm using it as both. I'm able to get a little more depth and separation by mixing out of the box and then I ultimately go to my ssl convertors from the tascam. I have a black lion summing mixer but in the process of outfitting an ssl x-rack to sum my digital stems off of the tascam/ssl alpha link to add that ssl punch. Don't get me wrong, you can get a solid mix out of protools and I use plenty of plugs but mixing out of the box gives me an extra layer of flexibility.

  • There is a bug on the Mac (not Pro Tools) that can cause a crash when using Aggregate Devices. If you go to Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences and right click on the Preferences folder and select "Get Info" and look at the bottom of the pop up window where it says "Sharing & Permissions". If the final permission in the list says "Read Only", click the padlock, enter your password and change it to "Read & Write", close the box and launch PT9 and now it should work without crashing.

  • @Inspela I just tried the suggestion you made but to no avail. It crashed on me again. What is odd, is that I use the aggregate with Logic 9 just fine with no issues what so ever.

  • can i use a lexicon alpha interface with protools?

  • -continued.. ... yeah, so I can't get the timecode display to lock in with ProTools Or logic... Im guessing it has something to do with that midi routing screen, but I can't seem to get it..

    2) I can get 32 playback, but only 24 recording at a time.. How do I get 25-32? im gussing its something simple that I'll be embarassed about... but such is life..

  • Hey, love the setup. Looks like ppl are loving it and bugging the sh-t out of ya with questions, so dare I ask one more? Lol.

I have a DM4800, FireWire, PT9 (not hd) and logic Studio 9, UAD2quadOmni pcie card, with MacPro8core and a MTP/AV and some other toys... Im using the Tascam converters via firewire, aspire to go MADI/SSL at some point but not yet... But anyway, i have two questions...

    1) I've had ZERO luck getting the timecode display on the Tascam MeterBridge to work with

  • Damn homie you talking chinese right now!!! make that a little more simple to understand..

  • Hey, so. I got the Tascam DM 4800 working with Pro Tools 9 but here is the new problem I got. I hooked up my monitors to my stereo outs and digital outs, basically hooked them up to every outs on the table that there is but for the life of me I can't get any sound from my Pro Tools projects to come back through the table and out of the speakers. I know it has something to do with the routing. Do, you know how to do this? Could you help me out with this? Please! I'd really appreciate it.

  • @KeezPleez you can't use 3rd party interfaces in protools 8 mate sorry, its just been introduced in protools 9
