A youtuber named John, said his girl friend's banjo was in their
family and wanted to know if I could restore it. I don't restore
banjos, but I told him to send it and I'd see if I could get it
to play. The banjo belonged to John Reed Durham, born 1917
was a teacher in Kentucky. He inherited the banjo from family
members, unknown, so the banjo is older than that, and as I
understand it Sears stopped using the Supertone brand about
that time. Anyway, I figured that by fixing the banjo I would
not only be doing them a kindness, but I could answer questions
people have asked me about how to fix and repair a banjo. Hope you
enjoy it.

  • "played the "faar" out of it" .... yep, Georgia through and through... I said just yesterday to my wife when she asked why the old scrap sheet in the garage had a burn mark on it.. I told her I had done caught it on FAAR!! Hahaha..... yep, apple don't fall faar from the tree. :)

  • @dhswpea hahaha. Just try to avoid ketchin' yo-self on fire.. That tends to enliven ya a mite..

  • You sound sick Richard!

    Hope you get better!

  • @Symblotic Yep. Got a bad cold.. Pretty miserable.. hahaha

  • bet you got a banjo museum going on at your home by now huh lol, love it, now that i have found out what fun banjos are , i am always looking at swap shops/flea markets for one to pop up but so far no luck, dang guitars are a penny a dozen, but no banjos : (

  • @65616larry Yea, there's a zillion guitars out there, but a good banjo is hard to come by.

  • I really like that kettle horn. I thought it sounded like a car or train. I want one!

  • @rpeek ha ha that tee kettle sounds almost like a train horn he he he

  • Dang i thought the train was coming when those air-horns went off.

  • @delmontcrusier I figured Sears. Did Montgomery Ward sell 'em too, or was it just Sears? I was never sure..

  • The grooves in that banjo neck look like the neck on my guitar with all the grooves in it. Some of my frets are getting worn too, but I still don't play as well as either you or 63Impaller. Mine plays better with a capo on it too.
