Atieh's singular passion is food, and her small but popular restaurant on the sleepy Caspian coast is her pride and joy. But when Aziz, her former fiancé, appears after a twenty-year absence, the women believe he has intentions of closing the restaurant, so Atieh prepares his favorite dishes, one after the other, in a desperate effort to convince him otherwise. Loosely based on the Persian fable of Shahrazad and the Thousand Myths (A Thousand and One Nights), director Ali Raffi uses the language of food to paint a richly textured portrait of life and love on the northern coast of Iran.

Golshifteh Farahani, an unspeakably beautiful woman. I only wish more of her films and more Persian and farsi films would be shown in the US.

This is a great film. If you get a chance to see it, do yourself a favour and don't miss it. In DVD unfortunately, it's only available in a Farsi only version. so far.

We got this film at our Library & it was good, but we couldn't figure out the ending as it was very confusing. Did the woman realize that he'd left her the cabin/business? We didn't understand if he'd spent all 22 yrs in prison either. Apparently she didn't know that. So, it was confusing.
