Virtual Rehab - Doug Smith

Doug Smith is a musical treasure of West Texas. His piano recordings, musical contributions, and concert performances, have made him one of the most inspirational contemporary instrumental artist on the Southwestern Plains. If you haven't heard Doug Smith play the piano, you haven't heard the piano!

This video was produced for Virtual Rehab, a biofeedback technology that can allow patients with motor deficits the ability to control devices that they might not have been able to before. In Doug's case, this meant regaining control over the sustain pedal of his piano as he returns to playing after a spinal injury in 2008. This presentation tells some of Doug's background, his story, and where he is currently in his recovery.

Wow! I answered before I listen to the miracle of your life. I have lived in both West Texas and Denver and have heard about Craig Rehab. Now wondering which tune is played with your new sustain pedal. The one that got me interested in your music is "West Texas." The sounds are unique and wonderful!. I am from Petersburg, know his family, and love them very much. I remember one night Doug was at Allsups and heard me and my friends playing some rap music. He walked up to us and gave us one of his cd's and said "listen to some real music". Thank You Doug Smith.
