New Mexico Senior Olympics Swimming

The 2006 New Mexico Senior Olympics Swimming Competition featuring world class swimmer Phil Djang of Las Cruces and Bill Johnson of desertjournalonline fame at the West Mesa Swimming Complex. Videophotography by Paris Ebberts, Teresa Johnson and Bill Johnson.
In first race, Phil Djang shows how backstroke is not only swum, but streamlined like a torpedo in the 200 yard race.
In second clip, Bill places second in the 100 yard freestyle, behind the state record performance of Greg Smith of Las Cruces.
In the third race, Bill takes second place to Bob Landry, who breaks the state record in the 100 yard breaststroke event.
The fourth clip reveals Bill's totally relaxed style in the 50 yard backstroke sprint. Phil left the camera at the start, and Greg stomped me too.
In the last scene at the awards podium, Bob Landry takes his coveted gold medal for the 100 yard breaststroke title, while Bill plots to seize the gold the next day in the 50 yard breast, beating Bob by just tenths of a second, but just missing the state record mark. Too bad the camera wasn't there that day, but humbleness shall rule my way.
