i think doing as many reps as you can by yourself with a heavey weight for you and then having a spotter help you through the last 1 or 2 reps is best. have your spotter only help you when you need it. just keep pushin. but i also think it kind of depends on what your goals are. to mainly gain strength or size. i'm no pro though.
to me a spotter is better others will disagree as its youtube...but i've had first hand experience and having a spotter works especially getting those extra reps and doing that extra weight... also its gives you peice of mind your not going to be towed off in a stretcher ahah
