This is a montage of clips I put together from my docufilm "Island Ponies". It is a project that is taking quite a while to complete as I am financing it myself and using vacation time to do it. It has been by far my greatest shooting experience to date. In part because my youngest son Michael and my grandson Dylan have been with me shooting the herd on Assateague Island. The horses have inhabited the island since the middle 1600's. Speculation on just how they got there has spawned many great stories. One legend has it that a Spanish ship was tossed in the night on a terrible stormy sea and was swamped before going down. It's cargo of horses spilled out into the cold Atlantic and frantically swam for the welcome Assateague shoreline. The descendants of those who made it that night can be seen today still wandering the beautiful beaches and roaming the grassy marshes as they have for over 350 years.
I have always wanted to go here. Thanks for taking me! ;-)

I truly enjoyed your video ! You mentioned the ship and the horses in your remarks, do you know where the story as it was spoken can be located ??
