@Irmaherms The artist most likely asked the Organist to pose in that fashion. If he never, most of the gentleman's body would be obscured and it would make for bad composition.

Allez à Leipzig ! Un silence recueilli, des fleurs sur la tombe ! Longtemps, il n'y en avait que pour Mozart et Beethoven. Ce sont LES MUSICIENS qui ont révélé Bach (Mendelssohn, Schumann...). Sans doute des gens qui n'avaient aucun goût (comme Mozart qui a transcrit au moins 7 pièces de Bach) et aucune onction.
