I was drafted in March 1968 took two mounths to program you in, 10 min. to prosess you out, all the time telling you "But the VA will be there to take care of you for free, for the rest of your life" Not here in the good old USA..... we fight for the fat old men, they get the Gold we get the wind. I would go to Canada knowing what I know now !

I am a wounded Vietnam veteran, I am drawn to this song like a moth to a lamp even though it flares up my PTSD and my survivor's guilt. The day after tomorrow is Veteran's Day. There will be a huge parade, Blue Angels, US Senator etc..., but I can't go. All I can do is lie in bed and pretend to try and forget, but at the same time, those who died were my friends. Liam Clancy - what a wonderful version of Eric Bogle's great song - touches heart and soul and so relevant, sadly even today as another old folk song goes when will we ever learn?

Thanks so much for posting...although I have it on one of your cd's it's a pleasure seeing the video of you performing it! Such a great song with so many wonderful versions by performers as diverse as June Tabor and Shane McGowan. One of the most touching I've heard was by a Canadian [name long forgotten] in an Irish pub in New Orleans a few years before Hurricane Katrina. Again, thank you for posting!
