This is just some test footage I shot around my workplace with my new Canon XL2.

It was shot in true 16:9 and in 24P. I took great pains to capture, edit and export it properly, so what you are seeing should be a true 24p file. (Although I'm not sure what happens to it once it hits youtube).

The music was just an edited piece from Band Of Horses called "The Funeral" which I cut together to loop.

This isn't a P&K Production, just test footage. I uploaded it because I have searched for it in the past and figured it could be helpful to others who may be interested in the XL2.

  • looks nice alot.!! how did you get those high-def bars to occur?? is that natural , or acheived through editing?

  • Thanks. Are you referring to the black bars at the top and bottom? I shot the footage in widescreen (16:9), so to get it on youtbe and not have the picture get squished i had to add the bars to keep it in proportion.

  • Hey whats the best settings to Export from Final Cut Pro to my Desktop to later post on youtube and other stuff. i seem to be having problems understanding the proper settings and the whole mumbo jump. Please help me out!

  • Nice !!

  • what's the diff between shooting 2:3 and 2:3:3:2 ? why did you shoot this in 2:3:3:2 ?

  • To make it HD all u need to do is export it in 720p and ur 16:9 will look shocking good

  • what did you use to capture it and edit? it would help a lot if you let me know i'm considering buying this cam.

  • whats the song?

  • I liked your shots....but it would have been so much cleaner with a tripod and using the follow focus feature. I like your shots, great....and Im rating you 5*'s cause I love this camera, but if you are going to use such a magnificant creation, use it the way it was meant to be used!!!!

  • that was cool did some cool zooms

  • haha, high- def bars... lol
