Sorry, I know this is a little off topic (awesome engine btw guys, very impressive) but whas wondering what wheels and tyres that thing is sitting on and are the wheels on spacers? Looks so nice on them. Thanks.

would you need to upgrade the standard gearbox of a classic 1995 4.2 auto?
-
you'd probably get around 245hp with a cam and F85 heads
-
what sort of power could I get from a 3.9 twin plenum if I had like a 270 cam with those merlin F85 heads fitted? that's if they'd a 3.9.
-
All well and good but I know a disco with an NA 4.6 and standard Rover heads with more power than that. Fine if you want to spend nearly £2k on fancy heads but try doing the standard ones properly ;-)
-
Is the drivetrain upgraded to deal with this?
-
will this engine fit a 1994 diesel manual gearbox?

@paranorma1palace If your p38 is anything like mine, id guess you would still be at the lights waiting for a tow home due to an electrical fault manifesting itself. That or all the coolant draining from the engine.Mind you if you mananged to get in front of the classic your coolant discharge would speed up the classics corrosion and you may indeed win.Ps i love all Landrovers, but my 110 most of all.

That sounds AWESOME! I've never heard a Land Rover sound that good, and that's no lean feat. That thing roars!
this is awesome. Are merlin f85's available for the land rover 4.0L motor? I have a disco 2 I'd like to do this too.

Due the high revving ability of the 4.0 these heads are sure to perform however for endless torque then they work so well with the 4.6 ehen itake is also accordingly upgraded

Yep you're right - I keep in mind that it's a 277 cid engine. If it's not a bimmer then it's a successor of the 213 cid Buick engine of the early 60.
Of course the output of the Range is great - but I'd prefere not such an aggressive camshaft (270 deg @ 0.05 valve lift?).

We supply 3 level of bespoke Piper Cam upgrades with any/all of our engines,, High Torque (torque-Max) for 4wd and all cruisers Piper 270 for ultimate efficiency/torque/Bhp balance for all use, and 285 for more discerning engines. We also do full race Cams but only by individual request with full engine details given so as to be bespoke.

lol man id pull up to you next to the lights in my 4.6 p38 and expect to see you in my mirror in that classic....what a shock i would have :) ive never checked the bhp on my engine its a turner engine 4.6 not with gas flow heads..any idea what bhp id be getting roughly, its a monster on 4star in sport mode , but loses a bit on gas, great vid
best wishes
