The six highly used fluro tubes are the old fashion 40w 'four footers'. These are all in series with the two 40watt light bulbs (also in series). Input voltage to the MOT is 90-100volts AC. I do not have an input current reading at this time. The fluro tubes are not as bright as new ones would be so I was trying to say they are as bright as they can be. The luminance level is deceiving, the camera adjusts the levels down so you cannot appreciate the amount of light. The spark gap is nearly slient, you can hear it if you listen for it. • keep up the good work, just a tip though, butterfly capacitors before spark gap, you know like in old radios ;) see ya

I remember trying an old adjustable cap from an old radio in series with the spark gap. The cap just arced badly. I used a six foot section of PVC pipe so I could adjust it while the circuit was live, no joy.

  • Great work! I am very impressed with yours and the others replications of Kapanadze/JNL. Your spark gap is quiet.

Thanks Bill. The worn out FL tubes are good for testing (very robust). I already destroyed both 40watt conventional light bulbs. They can 'arc over' internally and then are usless. When this happens a green plasma is seen bridging the gap in the lamp, yikes!!.
