@TheSerenity63 I wanted to say that, but forgot how to describe that act. "Kicking off" is just right. I remember sitting there with my feet dangling over the edge and the Huey going almost straight up, making a feeble pretense of a pass and the jump master pointing at me and telling me it was time to push off. The fall before the parachute deployed was so peaceful - totally different from that half-run out of the roaring C130 or the scary turbulence of the fall from the C141.

By 1943 standard in today’s dollars a PFC’s pay, foreign duty and combat bonus amounted to 2,943 dollars per month. Sergeant with sufficient time-in-service and assuming sharpshooter, amounted to 4,185 dollars per month.
Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay for a paratrooper was 1,887 per month in today’s dollars. A PFC’s aircrew Incentive Pay was 940 dollars a month, and that was 1,320 dollars per month for a Sergeant.
