I recommend a book for children called "All Cats have Asperger Syndrome" by Kathy Hoopman, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers (http://www.jkp.com). I am a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in treating families affected by autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). This video blog provides therapy ideas that families can use at home and school for their ASD children and adolescents. Subscribe to my channel for future treatment tips.

  • is there any physical signs of autism?

  • @MrCaveman366 No, there aren't any physical signs. Occasionally some body languages differences might be observed, such as lack of eye contact, fewer facial expressions, certain motor behaviors (movements) or fewer gestures, but these aren't really physical signs. There is no way to tell from how someone looks on the outside whether they have an autism spectrum disorder.

  • @ASDspecialist Lots of people have told me that my son doen not 'look' autistic. I ask them exactly what they mean by that statement. They just tell me that to them he does not 'look' autistic. I tell them that there are no physical markers of autsim like in downs syndrome or fragile x syndrome. That is why so many people are so judgmental of parents with kids with autism. They don't have a 'look', they appear to be spoild rotten brats. But in truth, they are not.

  • @deantheninetales I am so sorry to hear you have felt this way. I believe it is possible to learn to love and accept your differences. I know so many people with Aspergers who feel different but still feel they want to exist in the world and that they have special contributions to make. Check out some of the videos made by people on the spectrum. I also encourage anyone who feel badly about themselves to seek professional help right away.

  • @9418kmt but ma'am, because of my ADHD and Aspergers Syndrome, i have always wanted to kill myself all the time, cause just like in the book, i'm different from everyone else, that's why i don't wan to exist on this planet

  • @kathytreat I'm sorry I never replied, somehow I missed your comment. Sometimes I have seen that with time and education (books, YouTube vidoes, research articles, talking to others, etc) that people come around. The importance of early intervention is well documented in the research. Sometimes the fact that there is intervention that makes a difference can help - some people have the wrong idea that nothing helps and they see an autism diagnosis as something really terrible. How are things now?

  • @deantheninetales I'm sorry to hear that you don't feel that you belong on earth. I believe you do and that we all have something special to offer that no one else does. There's a quote that goes something like: Just be yourself, everyone else is already taken.

  • i have Aspergers syndrome too and i'm also Australian and i feel that i don't belong on the earth at all

  • My brother has admitted he HATES cats. He always bullied me to the point of phycological tourture. People who hate cats also seem to hate me. I wonder if there is a connection.

  • Does cats have it? Actually?? :) They seem like having it but does all of it have it?? :P - I suppose so..
