He was almost as beloved. Rizzuto is the ONLY REASON I watched FULL GAMES on TV. Jackson, Guidry, Nettles, Munson were all great, but their story told threw the mind of Rizzuto made them American Folk heroes.

Scooter. A true Pioneer. The single best sports announcer of all time.

Oh my god, I remember when those low-budget Carvel commercials used to air on WPIX...in fact, on my channel, I have commercial breaks that aired in 1988 on WPIX, with a Carvel "Tom the Turkey" ad!

He used to do these back in the 70s when I was a little kid. I was probably in my teens before I ever knew that "Phill Rizzuto for The Money Store" used to play baseball.

Same here! LOL...wasn't until about the late 80s that I learned what really made the Scooter famous.

When I was little, I was completed baffled by this name. I mean, I wondered how a person could buy money, isn't money what you bring to a store to buy stuff? lol
