Oh my god, I remember when those low-budget Carvel commercials used to air on WPIX...in fact, on my channel, I have commercial breaks that aired in 1988 on WPIX, with a Carvel "Tom the Turkey" ad!

Scooter made the games even more fun to watch. I can't disagree. The Scooter and Murcer, calling Yankee games on WPIX? Those were great times.
R.I.P. Phil Rizzuto (1917-2007)
Bobby Murcer (1946-2008)
Yankees on WPIX (1951-1998).

many of us made our bones as yankee fans growing up in the late 80s early 90s, wondering why this yankee team we were told was the greatest ever was sitting in 4th and last place every year...boy did it pay off by the end of the 90s...phil was there when i was a kid on WPIX with white and seaver, always made us laugh during those tough yankee years

What parts of the country did these air in? Were they nationwide? I remember seeing them in Pittsburgh as a kid, but I'm not sure if they were just in the northeast or not.

@arkangel187045 I almost shed a tear. DAMN, that brings back memories. Old WPIX in NY and Phil Rizzuto's Yanks. I'm a lifelong Mets fand BTW but I followed the Yanks like a true NYer back in the day.

I didn't know Phil Rizzuto was such a great actor. He deserved an Emmy for this ad alone!

man if you grew up in New Jersey in the 80s and did not see at least 1,000 of these commercials a year, you must have had hippy parents who were against TV
