Police have released CCTV footage of an attempted robbery where a woman was threatened with a gun.
The footage shows the robber cycling in the streets around Bola Mini Market, in Davenport Road, Derby, before walking into the shop and trying to rob it.
It also shows a man police would like to speak to as a potential witness as the robber is seen on the footage to cycle past him. He is white and wearing light coloured shorts and a dark long-sleeved top with a pale logo on the chest. He is carrying a bag over his shoulder and pauses to light a cigarette.
The incident happened at about 1.25pm on Wednesday, June 22. A 36-year-old woman was working behind the counter at the mini market when a man entered carrying what the victim has described as a handgun and demanded money from the till. She refused and called police. The man left empty handed and rode off down Hawthorn Street, toward Nightingale Road.
He is described as white, slim and about 5ft 6ins tall. He wore light blue jeans and a red woollen hat, pulled down over his face with eye holes cut out. He also wore a distinctive hooded raincoat, which was a blue-purple colour with black shoulders.
Officer in the case Detective Constable Sean Lambert said: "The man has quite a distinctive walk and rides a low bicycle. Its details such as these that we hope will help us to identify the man.
"Someone in the community will know who this man is and I would urge them to come forward."
Anyone with information about the attempted robbery should call police on 0345 123 3333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
