CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC)

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a gigantic scientific instrument near Geneva, where it spans the border between Switzerland and France about 100 m underground. It is a particle accelerator used by physicists to study the smallest known particles -- the fundamental building blocks of all things. It will revolutionise our understanding, from the minuscule world deep within atoms to the vastness of the Universe.

Two beams of subatomic particles called 'hadrons' -- either protons or lead ions -- will travel in opposite directions inside the circular accelerator, gaining energy with every lap. Physicists will use the LHC to recreate the conditions just after the Big Bang, by colliding the two beams head-on at very high energy. Teams of physicists from around the world will analyse the particles created in the collisions using special detectors in a number of experiments dedicated to the LHC.

There are many theories as to what will result from these collisions, but what's for sure is that a brave new world of physics will emerge from the new accelerator, as knowledge in particle physics goes on to describe the workings of the Universe. For decades, the Standard Model of particle physics has served physicists well as a means of understanding the fundamental laws of Nature, but it does not tell the whole story. Only experimental data using the higher energies reached by the LHC can push knowledge forward, challenging those who seek confirmation of established knowledge, and those who dare to dream beyond the paradigm.

@Elsweyr666 If you can't get rid of matter.Then why gas ( matter ) is spewing out of it's mouth when in it devoured a star?And why other matter doesn't come out?These question are relevant about the black hole.If you know the answer to the question that great,I would like to know also.And beside we're in the wrong video topic to talk about the black hole.

@TripleX2go We can never know whats on the otherside, or inside. Maybe a sink hole into another layer of time. Who knows, you can't get rid of matter, so it must be transformed into energy or transported. Hmmmmm

@Elsweyr666 True that we still need to stud more about the black hole,being that we can't really see or able to get near it. In that one hour you could learn a lot more than just one person.Gathering others idea and their theory,more like multiple instructors combine to find the means and median.You will get a shrug when ask a Physicist or Astronomer " what is on the other side of the black hole?" Then if you the answer then you have me beat.

@TripleX2go Don't act like you know anything about black holes, I know less now than when i started study on them two years ago. This is all speculation and theory. It could be true its might not be.... why is this so? Cause we cant see them and mainly because the physics of our world are not the same as that of the energy of a star is moved to a single point in space in seconds.

Don't act like you know anything from a one hour tv show, even Michio Kaku admits Black holes are baffling.

@TripleX2go im not exactly sure what would happen if two black holes were to collide, i think there have been over 100 documented events within 5 billion light years of our earth. But according to a study recently performed by the University of Texas, yale and a few other major Universities the would spin off each other, like two spinning tops.

Black holes are real, but alot of the speculation around them is theorectical. Maybe do more research?

Its sound exciting to see how an atom collide and wonder what would happen.As a result, atoms collide vanishing to the 4th dimensions like Gravity and human soul.Over all in my opinion,it's like watching fire works at the forth of July in a nano seconds and size.That how billionaire plays with fireworks.That why I'm not a billionaire.

@Elsweyr666 (That was a year ago) I've done my research since then.You mean it will disappear from earth in a nano seconds.Let's just say that the Large Hadron Collider creates a nano size black hole.To this size does matter.It will take hour for the nano size black hole to ingest the Earth.More like the drain from your toilet trying to suck the Titanic. And yes black hole does grow to a bigger size .That when two black holes collided then it will form a bigger black hole.

@TripleX2go If the partials did cause a black hole, (which is virtually impossible) it would end the world it a matter of nano seconds. We wouldn't even notice it. we would just cease to exist. Second, black holes don't change in size.
