"You can look and see younger rappers coming up and say that they might have come from the Atmosphere school of rap. This is cool, because it wasn't that long ago that people were looking at me saying, "He comes from the Hieroglyphics school of rap," and now to be one those reference points, that's a beautiful thing: I got my name in the books. As long I get to still play a role, or just be the guy that owns a record label, hell, I'll drive the damn bus if I have to."
you're reaching for justifications by misinterpreting my statement bc your head is so caught up your own formalist ass that you cant even speak about hip hop without gettin ur panties in a bunch. slug and eminem wasnt a comparison doosh, it was to prove that there was two WHITE people at the top for a whole decade in the underground and mainstream. not a comparison. a fact .
@9nsl5im9 Hostile? I was expressing my point. And your comment came off as arrogant and undermining to any true hip-hop fan. First you generalize about how "veterans feel" in your mind, and go on to state statistics about hip-hop fans that is completely pulled from your rear. And I wasn't trying to undermine you, I was just making my original comment valid again by showing Sap and Slug have already worked together. What now stranger?
are you kidding me man ? you really dont think 00 to 2010 was the time hip hop got suburbanized ? after eminem and slug became the poster children in the mainstream and underground ? you're tweaking if you need a reference to see that .
nah homie you got me fucked up. first off, sapient kills. I'm a fan. sapient is a veteran in the game, he's not dickriding anything or anyone - he came up with the rest of them and they pay homage to each other by collaborating and acknowledging their paid dues. dont get at me all hostile, cause im talking about america homie, so calm down with your brazil mexico and france talk. i understand hip hop is universal, please dont try to undermine people, especially strangers
@LebannersHook And 75% of hiphop fans are white suburban? What??? There is underground hiphop in the ghetto, in mexico, in Brazil, in France. I think being white has nothing to do with it. And if he didn't want to "dick ride" bigger names (I call it collaborating) then why did he produce for the likes of "Aesop, Slug and Souls of Mischief? And why is he in a group with LuckyIam? So does this mean in your mind that Sapient is a dick rider?
@9nsl5im9 Umm, Sapient had already made a beat for Atmosphere. Link: h t t p :// sandpeoplemusic. com /SPWiki/index. php?title= Sapient
And I have never heard anyone on any song talk about how "suburbanized " Hiphop became after Atmosphere. Do you have a reference for that, like a song or blog? And in the song "I did it" I think he was trying to draw to light the surplus of whack rappers who think their good but don't know what they're doing.
sapient has a song called "I did it" where he talks about murdering an atmosphere fan. im not sure if its a real beef- but alot of these underground veterans hold grudges against fans of emotional music. they dont like how suburbanized hip hop became after atmosphere blew up.. but thats 75% of the population in hip hop. suburban white kids. i dont think they wanna shoot barrels of fish and would rather gain their own following . not everyone wants to dick ride a bigger name
