To mark their 30th anniversary in Malawi, World University Service of Canada (WUSC) summarizes the impact its programs have had from 1981 to today. Volunteers -- whether students or professionals -- are at the heart of WUSC's work and have contributed significantly to improving the lives of thousands of people in this southern African country.
Pour marquer le 30e anniversaire de son travail au Malawi, l'Entraide universitaire mondiale du Canada (EUMC) fait le récapitulatif de l'impact de ses programmes depuis 1981 jusqu'à aujourd'hui. Les volontaires, qu'ils soient étudiants ou professionnels, sont au cœur de l'intervention de l'EUMC et ont contribué significativement à améliorer le sort de milliers de personnes dans ce pays d'Afrique australe.
1982, March 31 to April 5, WUSC Regional Field Directors' Meeting in Lilongwe : Gayle Turner and I (Overseas Co-Directors) from Ottawa, Carolyn MacRae (sp?), Country Director in Malawi, Germain Autotte from the Comoros, A. John Watson from Zimbabwe, Bon E. Cummings and 1 or 2 other WUSC country Directors from either Lesotho, Swaziland or Botswana. A memorable gathering, which included fleeing a hippo wading ashore at Monkey Bay. Subsequent meetings were held in Lima, Maseru and Moroni.
