  • now thats what i had i used to turn out the lights in my room and watch the screen light up.

  • Lucky you!! Jimmy Jet was one of the most desirable, sought-after toys ever made. It was the 'dream toy' for all my buddies and me, I only knew 1 or 2 kids who were lucky enough to own such a jewel. But I can image shutting off the lights and firing that bad-boy up!! Oh yeah.

  • I got one of these for Christmas, but it wouldn't light up. My parents took it back to "Santa's shop" to get fixed and that fat bastard musta stole it because I never saw it again.

  • I still have mine. Even still has both missiles. My parents didn't have much money, but they splurged on us for Christmas.

  • The did a good gag with this during the Rifftrax Holiday Special Live back in 2009.

    FLYYY! FLYYY! FLYYY!

  • Whoo-Hoo! Found it! Search for 'Jimmy Jet Commercial Spoof'.

  • I got one of these for Christmas, 1963. I mentioned it to my wife years ago and how much I loved it. So, several years back, she located a working one and gave it to me for Christmas! It works and it's in my office at home. No missiles or original box, but it's just fun to have!

  • I had a Jimmy Jet in the early 60's. I would spend hours playing with that toy. You could only buy them from the super markets and I remember the toys were always on the top shelves near the frozen TV dinners.

  • I got one for Christmas and it sat in our Harrisburg, PA basement until about 1971. I lobbyed parents hard for the Jimmy Jet--surprised the original supermarket price was $7.77. I thought it cost $13.

My parents threw it out because I had taken it apart to see how it worked. So simple. A light bulb inside a rotating plastic cylinder painted with aerial map, the plastic plane positioned over cylinder steered by the wheel and covered by a screen.

Fascinating back in the 60s! Loved it!

  • You cannot buy these anywhere since 9/11.

  • Anyone know if there is a version of the commercial with music?

    "Jimmy Jet!

    It's just like flying"

I seem to remember it a decade ago on 'Night Flight'.

The commercial was intercut with film from the VietNam war.

  • Fly, FLY, FLY!!!!!!!

  • This was shown on the Riff Trax Christmas show.

    SOLD AT FOOD MARKETS ONLY

  • In response to tech2rescue& ctaesque, we didn't have much money either, unfortunately I never got the Jimmy Jet . Many years later I was telling my young son and he gave me a toy of his that was vaguely similar to Jimmy Jet so I could have it for Christmas.
