Wounded, ill, and injured Sailors and Coast Guardsmen train for team Navy/Coast Guard at the 2011 Wounded Warrior Training Camp. Navy Safe Harbor -- the Navy and Coast Guard's wounded warrior support program -- plays a key role in introducing recovering service members to competitive adaptive sports. Qualifying athletes competed against wounded warriors from all branches of the U.S. military in the 2011 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Navy Safe Harbor is the Navy's lead organization for coordinating the non-medical care of seriously wounded, ill, and injured Sailors, Coast Guardsmen, and their families. Through proactive leadership, the program provides a lifetime of individually tailored assistance designed to optimize the success of the shipmates' recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration activities.
