An interview with Wayne McGregor about Chroma, which had its premier in 2006.

Chroma explores the drama of the human body and its ability to communicate extremes of thought and emotion. The score, drawn from original music by Joby Talbot and his arrangements of music by American rock band The White Stripes, is combined with stark, minimalist designs by architect John Pawson.

Does anyone know where I can get the full orchestra version of music used online? I can't find it anywhere!

Wow, this is such an interesting explanation/description of how a choreographer develops a project collaboratively!

I was at the performance on Friday night and it was stunningly wonderful, hardly a foot out of place, so much energy, so much power. It brought tears to my eyes and the audience went wild. I hope the DVD does it justice and, if it does, would recommend it to anyone who likes the classical/ modern crossover style of McGregor with the Royal Ballet (and any ballet fan who hasn't yet seen any of his work

The performances of Chroma last night and tonight at the Royal Opera House are being filmed for DVD release, so it should be possible to get the whole performance on DVD soon. I guess it will be on the Royal Opera House's Opus Arte label later in the year.

OK, I found the album Aluminium on iTunes even though it's unavailable on CD. Get the tracks Aluminum and The Hardest Button to Button off that instead of the White Stripes originals as these are the versions you hear in the ballet.

@TheSecretpeter There may also be an album called Aluminium which has the orchestrated versions of the White Stripes tracks used in the ballet, but it seems to be unavailable at the moment. The first two performances at the Royal Opera House this weekend were fantastic.

@TheSecretpeter Album Once Around the Sun (tracks January, June and August) and the original White Stripes pieces of which orchestrated versions are used for the ballet are The Hardest Button to Button (album Elephant), Blue Orchid (album Get Behind Me Satan) and Aluminum (album White Blood Cells). All are on iTunes. I haven't been able to find a recording of Talbot's Hovercraft (which is used for the final scene of the ballet) - if anyone knows of a recording please let me know.
