The Knights of Royal England display team put on a show of their horsemanship and skill at arms at Linlithgow Palace in Scotland on 9th July 2011. Red and Blue teams battled each other in a points based tournament consisting of jousting and sword fighting.

My plan had been to spend the day filming to capture as much footage as possible and create either one long film or several shorter pieces. As it turned out i had to look after my 1 year old son who was ill and therefore it was a brief visit with little opportunity to find enough time to film. This is merely an insight into what to expect from these events.

  • The jousting displays I've seen in the US are a bit more authentic than this.

They try to not use microphones, they joust on dirt not grass, the wood is less refined and more crude looking.

Still this was nice, it's not everyday you see two knights running at each other on horseback.

  • @rusher38 Yeah i've seen some of the US Full Tilt jousters who joust properly. Very impressive show of skill. This was just a fun family day out with no risk of injury.

  • all respect is gone....

  • @Mylesruether Don't come back then!

  • I wish we had these in america.

  • @frostfilm you will find jousting displays all over Europe, Australia and the U.S
