But presumably he wanted very minimalistic acting. And I found that very accommodating, because Tristan is an opera of great intimacy, about conversation… really in many ways a chamber work. Lofty and pathetic opera gestures have no place in it. It’s much more about a glance, about a blink of an eye on the part of your partner on stage…"

the usual modern STUPID staging and direction.... Wagner is still rolling in his grave for this. Why directors never read the text before...?????
