The BC government should see this coming. The introduction of HST make its mark for Campbell backstab his supporters! When he promised to "NO HST", thats how he wins the previous provincial election.

taxes are a human civil necessity. like moving your legs to walk. it just is. infrastructure,
emergency services, disability pensions to protect the average worker who doesnt get corporate coverage, food inspectors, etc. this isnt the 1800s when the majority of us lived agrarian lives separated from one another. we now live in mind boggling complex civilizations of technological sophistication. government is a must. good government that is. im for cutting the silly fat though for sure

@NAUresistance Its a measure of the people to determine their own system . Its a step in the right direction but there is so much more to do to really effect a change in B.C. Real changes and real thinking out of the box is going to have to take place first .

@infastructureFissure Don't get me wrong, I don't enjoy paying taxes and most of them in my opinion are unlawful or unconstitutional, but I do realize that there are core services and upkeep we must maintain in order to continue to enjoy some semblance of a clean, functioning and inclusive nation.. This unfortunately, requires all of us to chip in a little to make it happen.. However, this in no way justifies what the average working Canadian is subjected to currently in the form of taxes.

@infastructureFissure I wouldn't really mind paying taxes if the money collected was actually going to where its supposed to go. Instead, it gets pissed up a wall by our incompetent government.. Enough is Enough.

@ConvictedTerrorism -Yes, this is an excellent example all provinces can use as a guide or template to affect similar change. We should all be studying the formula used by B.C. residents to accomplish this amazing goal. This is really the best news I've heard in a very long time in Canada.. Obviously there is much more work to be done to restore Canada back to its former glory, but its certainly a welcomed step in that direction.
Well now that the HST has been eliminated, what next? I hope it doesn't mean higher taxes to British Columbians that have a tough time trying to earn enough to make a living. Even to those that are underemployed by their jobs.

@Lurvy1963 whats next is eliminating the Carbon Tax or the Income tax....choose one.

@canuckfanjosh I would say next target should be carbon taxes as you suggested. There is more then enough "fresh" evidence surrounding this globalist scam to mount a decent fight against it with. We can start by calling out Stephen Harper on his willingness to integrate and harmonize American environmental law (Waxman-Markey Bill H.R. 2454) into Canadian law. We can start working on getting the Montreal Climate Exchange shut down and the globalists behind its operation prosecuted!

@Lurvy1963 The purpose of the HST was in no way to be a solution to keep taxes low for Canadians.. The HST was a Federal/Provincial cash grabbing scam, I say good riddance!
