The beginning of the 11 o'clock hour on BBC News 24 in November 2003. Television Centre was hit by a power failure, so Darren Jordon and Carrie Gracie decamp to the Westminster studios.

  • Why Would BBC 1 Go Off Air At Television Centre With Programes?

  • thumbs up if you were expecting the power to go out in that studio in the middle of the report about the power cuts

  • @shirleygibson Radio & 5 live are both broadcast from BBC TV Centre the same as BBC TV news. Thats why they got affected as well.

    Maybe but its the best bnews service there is, this is recognised internationally, so if the BBC stinks everything else must reek

    it was actually a complex event, they have backups of course, but the powercut caused a freak electrical problem that caused overheating in electrical equipment that stopped the backup diesel generators working

  • poor buggers, the power went out on them at 1:08 too!

  • @pidge80 power cut cannot be prevented

  • Why the hell don't they have a back up generator
