Secretary Chu lays out a roadmap for how the U.S. can lead the world in making the clean vehicles we need at the 2010 Washington Auto Show. He also announced that the Department of Energy had closed on a $1.4 billion loan to Nissan to build the all-electric LEAF in Tennessee and create up to 1,300 American jobs.

Recapturing a leading role in vehicle manufacturing could happen if we offered real innovation.
I was pleased to hear mention of improving aerodynamic performance of trucks, where there is large performance.
It was disappointing to see the emphasis on electric vehicles which will not improve our emissions over that which hybrids will accomplish; in fact the coal fired electric generation that will respond to plugging in of electric vehicles will result in an increase in CO2 emissions.
