***problem report********************************
After posted this video,I found the volume level was inconstant at some points on the video.
This problem was happened in the process of YouTube side and I don't know how to improve it now.
I may update this when this issue is solved.
***************************************************

Demo for Lollar "Charlie Christian for Tele" pickup.
My impression : This is not a smooth "Modern Jazz guitar" pickup. This is for smokey old timey Jazz/Blues.
So I tried 40-50's Jump Blues style with it.
Bytes and the mid-range when playing 9th chord are unique.

Recording configuration:
Tele thinline - Oahu JU26(6V6) head -AXETRAK-Trident 4T Mic pre - RME Fireface800 - Mac (LOGIC7.2)

Bass : '77 Telecaster Bass - RME Fireface800 - Mac (with plug-in Bass amp in LOGIC7.2)

  • Nice jams here; if you'll check out Tim Lerch's demo of this pickup in the neck position of his Tele, you'll find that this Lollar p.u.is absolutely built for jazz. Nevermind the fact that he could make a 2x4 plank sound musical ...

  • @vampyros1 Thank you for watching. I have to say one thing about my guitar. It has no tone control. This means no circuit that makes treble roll-off. I tried Valley-arts Tele with Lollar CC. It was really jazzy :-) Thanks

  • I think current Fender 70s Thinline (with two hums) is better for Jazz. If you install Lollar CC on it,it may be the one closer to what you need(Maybe :-))

I think remarkable taste of LollarCC is the mid-range.

The high-end and lo-end are just the bodys are.

That's why I think 70Thinline is better for jazz.

I did not expect Jazz sound. I expected smoky bluesy sound. So I succeeded :-)

    Thanks. Good luck!

  • Hmm, I think I understand. So then the construction is not like any of the Fender Thinlines. If I wanted a Jazzier sounding guitar with the Lollar CC, I would need different construction. Is that correct? If somehow there was a way for me to see the insides of the guitar, that would be fantastic, but I really doubt that's possible! Thanks for all the help!

  • Ummm...At first, this was made as custom guitar for me.

So The construction is different from the current and past Fender thinline. The first time I ordered this guitar, I didn't think of jazz-like guitar. This was a trial for wide frequency ranged guitar. So the taste remains even if the pickups were replaced with Lollar CC.

If you want Jazz-sound with Lollar CC,other set-up for jazz will be also needed. I want to show you if I can. It's hard to explain for me :-) Thanks.

  • Thanks for the response. One question though. Does the thinline have the bottom side (side with the controls) hollowed or chambered out like a 69 thinline body, or is it like a 72 thinline where the bottom side is solid while the side with the f-hole is chambered?

  • Awesome :-) Thanks for the response... again, love your playing

  • Thanks. I've been thinking I have to do since I installed it.

I will do ASAP but it will be in another style of blues.

Because the programing for the horn section is very hard and it takes time to complete:-)
