KXJB-TV Charley Johnson resigns 12/5/88

KXBJ TV is the CBS affiliate in Fargo, North Dakota. On December 5, 1988, Charley Johnson resigned. He had a great offer at KTHI-TV (now KVLY), a cross-town rival, and later become General Manager. In this clip, notice how the weather presenter Steve Poitras tells more than the KXJB management would have liked him to say.

I'm getting old. I remember when Poitras started at KXJB. I believe he replaced, Barry, "Little Rascal" Lillas. Do you have any clips of him or of the old sports guy, Jim Adelson?

I was in Fargo from 1986-1998 and actually never even heard the name "Little Rascal" Lillas. However, I remember Jim quite well. I may have some video of Jim on a KX promo back in the late 80s or 90s. I'd have to check.

At O:29, they cut off the Joy/Poiras chit chat for a commercial from the ND Job Service. Why?

Before the commerical, Poitras made no comments about Charley. His only comments before the commercial were about the weather. It was only after the commerical he elaborated about Charley and KXJB.

She was on KTTH (Conservative talk) radio here in Seattle, but I see an article that talked about her leaving in 2007. I remember when I happened on her voice on the radio and recognized her right away! I grew up in Hawley, and was back in F/M in 96, 97 & 98, before moving back here to Seattle. A bit ironic, in the same article about Joy, there is a mention of Thor Tolo, who is a Cobber - now on a Christian station here.

I am not a fan of either station.
