A Tallis Prelude was composed by Douglas Akey who used various themes from the 16th century English composer, Thomas Tallis. You will find similar themes also in Raugh Vaughan William's famous "Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis". This recording was performed by the North Texas Wind Symphony and conducted by Eugene Migliaro Corporon.

You can download a different recording of the piece at http://www.queenwood.com/mp3/QK_883/Q883035.mp3

  • wow you got no trumpet parts!! whtout trumpet it sucks

  • @SovietUnion100

You can definitely hear the trumpets from 1:00 to 1:14

  • oh, btw, is this synthesized? cuz there is absolutely NO shaping whatsoever besides what's written on the paper -.-... bad musicianship

  • @Raemoth

    No, it's not bad musicianship.

The North Texas Wind Symphony did an impeccable job playing this piece. Playing exactly what is written on the paper does is great. There is little room to go beyond that.

If you are still skeptical about it being synthesized, then go to the link in the video description.

  • My middle school band is playing this for a contest, whatever band is performing this seems to use many more tempo changes/ritardandos/fermatas/something than mine.

  • I don't get how anybody can claim for this performance to be "Unmusical" Especially considering it comes from one of the best college concert bands out there.

  • @Raemoth You want to hear synthesized? h t t p://ww w.queen wood.co m/mp3/QK_883/Q883035.mp3 (take out the spaces)
