Wow the people that left there dogs behind are just cruel people.I would NEVER leave my dog or dogs behind.I mean there just like people but have more hair and bark so that means they don't desirve to live too.I would rather stayy and die with them then leave them to die this is just so sad:(

Theirs no way in hell that i would leave my pets behind. Not even my hamster. I guess ill be the one human left behind with my pets. I dont got the heart to do that shit.

i understand that you wouldnt wanna leave a person behind just to save a dog or cat.but in my opinion ppl have means to try to take care of themselves until they are rescued.animals like house pets rely on humans to take care of them so in the case of a natural disaster a house pet wouldnt know what to do

this is america. i just watched a video on the japanese tsunami where people would not leave their animals behind. here, we lock them up and run for our own safety. it's shameful.

Dear lovelimyran, you are absolute right, there was a lot of animals abandoned, but I just went for three months to New Orleans and other minor cities where dogs and cats where the most. I Know in some rural Parishes cows, pigs, horses were abandoned but I also know that people with more experience in large animal rescue were there trying to help. I have to say, that I just was a truck driver, animal lover, with zero experience in animal rescue.

Why people say thing without thinking before...I repeat....I rescued to many animals in New Orleans, Biloxi, Metaire, Gulfport from October 1th to Juanary 10th, 3 months in the area...and you?...did you go to New Orleans at least once?...
