Bechamel is one of the classic French "mother sauces" and the starting point for most cheese sauces and gratin dishes. If you've ever made baked macaroni and cheese, you've probably made bechamel. A blend of white roux and scalded milk, bechamel is one of the easiest French sauces to make.

  • Does anyone else think this chick reminds them of Robyn from How I met your Mother? Its a good thing, chicks who cook are hot!

  • You should work on your audio.

  • Dear Jenny,

I've been trying to make Bechamel for the past few weeks and I had a hard time following the recipe in the book. However, after watching this video and your video on roux I was able to make it successfully. Thanks for the videos! And I've been looking at your other videos as well--I think I'm going to try the asparagus! And do post some more--you are really charming and I do like your sense of humor.

    Best

  • Yes, French - Béchamel not "Bechamél" (the frenchman isn't angry, yet)

    Italian - Besciamella
