The GPK cartoon was piloted on November 21,1987 on CBS not 1989. It was cancelled due to the terrible film and did air in Canada and the UK for 13 episodes.

Which very bloody but innocent looking comic book did they plan on adapting ? Whatever the case, I´m sure that CBS would have toned it down - just like they toned down GPK.
