The IRC's Emily Holland recently traveled to Darfur to document the lives of displaced Sudanese. In this video, she takes us inside several camps for displaced persons and describes how the IRC is helping women—from providing water and shelter to offering skills trainings and the chance to make a living.

I am a Sudanese from a moslem family. Slavery & colonial collaboration in the Sudan empowered three groups: Jallaba; Baggara & Fulani for 500 yrs. Now they dominate all fields and reject truth; reconciliation & positive actions for victims. Since 1956, Sudanese governments, especially the current, claim Arabism & Islam to get more. Shame on Arabs & Moslems if they keep supporting them. The present government is just too extreme & violent. They must be stopped.

Learn some fucking history moron. Muslims were raping and enslaving Africa way before Europeans. In fact, Muslims took more slaves, and did it over a much longer time-frame than Europeans. You also took millions of Slavic slaves. Islamic rape of Africa lasted from 700A.D. to present day. Europeans only went over there around 1450A.D. Whites simply took the torch that Arabs lit. You were the ones who started widespread African slavery and colonization, and continue to do so.

On another but very interesting note; please read about the sad bloody devastation of Soba city- the capital of Alodia the last Christian Nubian capital- in 1504 by nomadic groups of disputed origins led by Abdallah Jamma and Amara Dunqas which led to the violent imposition of corrupt forms of Islam; Arabism & Fulani on all Sudan and the establishment of the bad Sultanate of Sennar/Sinnar. That is when the Sudan stated the nose diving. It is the worst disaster ever happened to Sudan
