  • As interesting and skilled as Trane is, Duke had much more dimension, harmonically and in every other important way. And...Duke's tenor players were also masters. Like Paul Gonsalves. He could play as modern as Trane, probably more so, and then he could turn around and get into a stomping style and swing like Trane never could. Not knocking Trane, either.

  • I can't believe how great music this is! I love Duke and Trane since I was sixteen and after all these years it sounds like all new and fresh like it would have been from yesterday. What a swing and power!
