I am using the IDG300 + accelerometer combo from Sparkfun.com to try to balance this robot.. coding is pretty crude, and the robot can barely balance, it has been a lot of fun!!

  • Thanks!!... done subscribing to yours!..

  • i read your email. I will post a video of my robot when i compile hours of video into 10 mins. I am actually upgrading it by using the idg300 and the axon microcontroller. I have a question? are you getting better results with the 12-bit adc or is there alot of noise that alters the angle calculations?

  • Hi... the IDG300 is a great choice.. about the ADC, I just followed what others did in order to interface with the gyroscope + accelerometer combo, well, both analog outputs are pretty noisy, I observed similar behavior with either 10bit or 12 bit ADC, but the Kalman filter does a wonderful job in processing both the gyro and accelerometer noisy outputs and delivering a rock solid angle value.. I hope this helps.. :-)

  • very nice! -- Balancing is one of the most difficult things to do in robotics.

  • That's awesome, good job!

  • excellent!!!!

  • Brilliant!

  • Hehe it looks like a giant hammer!

  • thanks. I receive parts on Thursday. Subscribe to my channel so u will know when i upload the videos. I have already subscribed to yours.

  • what microcontroller are you using? are you using a 8-bit adc or a 10-bit adc?
