For Veterans returning from combat, going back to school presents more challenges than simply learning the material in their textbooks. In Cleveland, Ohio one professor has created a program called S.E.R.V. to prepare his student Veterans for the transition out of the service and into the classroom. For more information, visit http://www.csuohio.edu/academic/serv/ . See http://www1.va.gov/opa/feature/amervet/video/amvet2009-1-4.asx for the Section 508 compliant version of this video.

  • 1945 Demobilization Benefits were today’s equivalent of 686 dollars a WEEK for 52 weeks for unemployment to be supplanted by Room & Board for 1,430 dollars a month plus ALL university costs & fees for the duration, to include a master’s program if so selected. Cost-of-living amount was 50% more if a beneficiary had 1 or more dependents, to include a spouse and/or children.

There was no deduction or accumulation from GI pay for this, it was full & automatic.
