@omgz8876 NWiNFO that sounds like something that may help me, thank you for your comments I'll definitely check it out

@bronsdog ive seen mine dam near hit 50C before the fans kick in. on my 720. i started usin HWiNFO to control the fans, bc i dont want a meltdown before i get sum coolin. failienware let me down in that respect. the fact that there only a passive and active option for the cpu cooling in the alienware fusion is a bit disgraceful. the systems fine when the fans are runnin effectively. its just gettin em there before it gets hot. HWiNFO is the only thing for me that can do it.

@omgz8876 I've got the 460m. The thing I forgot to say is that it is not my GPU that overheats it's my CPU, and I've got the i7 740qm. I find this strange because I would have thought that alienware would have been able to design a more appropriate cooling system since this CPU can get so flipping hot

@bronsdog i dont know wat gfx card is in ur m15x, but i have a m17xr2 n in bf3 it turns into a vacum cleaner n the heat that comes out could easily warm ur feet in the winter. igot ati 5870m in mine. the more stress u put it thru the more ur gonna heat it. a notebook cooler will help 4sure.

Lately I've actually been having some insane overheating issues with battlefield 3 whilst playing on my M15x, like insane overheating, something like 90 degrees +. Is that normal for yours? if you still have it that is.
If not, do you have any recommendations? Cause my warranty is, expired aaaand this problem is quite recent for me, as you could probably predict it's been effecting gaming performance and my frustration levels :S

+1 thats a nasty noise. RMA that shit!
-
I have this sound too, do you know how to solve it?
-
RMA it, the bearing is fucked.
I'm going to maybe be getting a m17x with at the moment best processor (2ghz quad-core) and the "CrossfireX" ati (there was a regular ATI, dual, and crossfirex, i'm assuming that's triple or quad)
If you say the m15x really has very little to no heating/cooling issues, do you imagine my m17x might? i'm not very experienced, but i can't tell if a quad core will run hotter or cooler because it's lesser ghz, but that ghz will be applied to all cores, so i would think hotter .. right? >.<

@IamDUFF i would not expect any heat issues. alienware has been good about their thermals this generation

@GangstersGreed the M15x does not have a cooling problem. It doesn't get very hot at all, especially during general use. I just used it in this text because it was on my desktop.

am so you think this system doesnt need any more cooling things. How about when its in summer the temperatures are high like 27 degrese celcious in your house, do you think it could be useful?
