Part 1 of a series of videos where I will show the entire process I went through to create the site www.onewordpicture.com. The first couple of episodes won't be terribly interesting for you if you want Codeigniter tutorials but things will definitely get more interesting as I get going on the coding aspects in later videos.

I created this site for the purpose of screen recording every single minute of the development so I could do a tutorial series - it could still be an interesting and fun site if people used it but that wasn't the idea!

I wanted to show the HTML/CSS development process. I wanted to show how I design my database and my codeigniter project and how I put it all together.

I'll be fast forwarding a lot of the moments where I get stuck but sometimes I will show them too as the process I go through to figure things out might be useful for some people. After all I have never been taught any of this and I don't do this for a living - and I've managed to create a fair few useful apps in the 2 or so years since I first started to teach myself HTML.

Hope you enjoy - please leave a comment, rate and subscribe.

  • Damnit Verbloten, this seriously could have been so good :(

I was like "YES! I found what Ive been looking for!!" except that its really hard to follow you. Seems like you're just taking a ton of short cuts in your explanation, and not really trying to put much effort into methodically walking us through the process.

I'm not trying to personally insult you so please dont be offended.

  • @WikiPeoples Hey man. Yeh I hear ya! This series sucked that's why I stopped doing it. The problem was I just screen recorded while I was developing (no commentary). Then months and months later tried to do a commentary on something where I don't have a clue half the time what I was trying to achieve or what i was thinking at the time. I thought it was gonna be awesome too man. Give me a small-ish site to build and I'll do all the commentary as I build it and then post the vids for you.

  • @Verbloten well, I REALLY liked how you video'd the entire process. Maybe you could do this for a blog, or wiki website?

Or just re-build the website with live commentary!!! Seriously, could be soooooo good. You got potential man!

  • @WikiPeoples Thanks mate.. I've been getting a lot of subs in recent times and haven't posted a video for a few months so I'm pretty keen to do that. Creating a blog etc is not only pointless but just so laborious and boring. I was thinking of doing a tutorial on getting Elliot Haughins Twitter API working and then using it to allow users to sign up to your site using twitter for on-going authorisation. Would this be interesting?

  • ask yourself why you have 66% of dislikes. What is the purpose of you doing this web ? some kind of exhibition how quick you can talk and shake the screens ? I quite your video after 2 minutes. It is a shame, because obviously you could not care less about how to do it well for your audience, you want us to watch you and this is a bloody dizzy shake of screens that nobody can follow. I ll move on to someone else.

  • @match20045 I've just watched a few minutes to refresh my memory! I was screen recording a screen recording and I was actually fast forwarding some of the stuff as well which makes it hard I guess to follow along. I'm not sure what you are seeing with the shaky screens etc - perhaps try increase the resolution and watch in full screen. If I am going too fast for you - you could also pause occasionally to catch up. I'm seriously sorry it was no good for you. These weren't my best that's for sure.

  • @Verbloten Absolutely. That sounds way more interesting than a blog, so definitely go with that! I'll for sure watch, and I'm sure tons of others will too.

  • @match20045 Sorry you didn't like it mate.

  • Yeh this "series" wasn't my best! And let's face it my best isn't that good anyway! :)

  • nice
